On 23 January 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the delegation led by the Head of the Kuwait-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mohammad Hayef Al-Mutairi.
During the meeting, issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kuwait, as well as the current situation in the region, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted with satisfaction the existence of a mutually beneficial cooperation agenda and prospects between the two countries in various fields, including economic, alternative energy, trade, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, culture, education and other areas. In particular, the importance of mutual support demonstrated by the two countries within the framework of regional and international organizations, including the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), was emphasized.
It was noted that 2024 is also marked by the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Kuwait. It was noted that parliamentary diplomacy, including mutual visits of parliamentarians of the two countries, has played a positive role in the development of relations between two countries.
It was emphasized that the prospects for the development of relations are rich, and that the mechanism of political consultations and the Joint Commission for Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the State of Kuwait have great importance in order to effectively utilize the existing potential in this direction.
The other side was also provided with detailed information on the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation in the post-conflict period, and it was noted that there are potential opportunities for the Kuwaiti side to participate in the process.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other regional issues of mutual interest.
