No:025/25, Press release on the visit of Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev to the State of Qatar

On 26 January 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev paid a visit to the State of Qatar.

 

Within the framework of the visit, the 5th meeting of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar was held. The political consultations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev from the Azerbaijani side, and by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sultan bin Saad Al Mureyxi from the Qatari side.

 

During the consultations, bilateral political and economic issues, as well as issues of cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and other international organizations were discussed. An exchange of views was also held on a number of regional and global issues of mutual interest. Directions of cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, education and other fields were discussed.

 

Within the framework of the visit, Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev also met with Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs of the State of Qatar Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed. During the meeting, the necessity of holding the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Azerbaijan and Qatar at the earliest possible time, as well as organizing mutual trade missions and business forums, was noted.

 

During his visit to Doha, Yalchin Rafiyev also visited the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS), and met with the Director of the Center Ghassan Elkahlout and its experts. During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on Azerbaijan’s foreign policy and developments in the South Caucasus and the Middle East regions.

 

In addition, Yalchin Rafiyev met with the leadership, faculty and students of the Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS) operating under Georgetown University in Qatar. The Deputy Minister informed the audience about Azerbaijan’s foreign policy priorities, Azerbaijan’s views on regional and global issues, as well as the post-conflict period between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the normalization process, and the reconstruction and restoration works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, and answered the questions of the participants.
