On 19 January 2024, within the framework of the visit to the Republic of Uganda in order to participate in the 19th Summit Meeting of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Angola, Tete António.

During the meeting, it was underlined that cooperation with the countries of the African continent, including Angola, constitutes one of the important vectors of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy course, and it was stated that there are favorable opportunities for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Angola in the political, economic, education, humanitarian, trade and energy fields.

In this regard, the usefulness of expanding the legal and contractual framework between the two countries and holding consultations between foreign policy institutions was noted.

The Azerbaijan-Angola cooperation based on mutual support within the framework of the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and other multilateral cooperation platforms was recalled with satisfaction.

In the humanitarian field, views were exchanged on the history and future prospects of the successful cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the field of education and the training of specialists in various professional areas.

The participation of Angolan students in scholarship programs provided by Azerbaijan for citizens of the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement was noted with satisfaction.

It was emphasized that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), to be held in Azerbaijan this year, is important for further development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
