No:013/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

On 18 January 2023, within the framework of the visit to the Republic of Uganda in order to participate in the 19th Summit Meeting of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the President of this country, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
During the meeting, congratulations on the transfer of the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Uganda were conveyed to the Head of State of Uganda, and it was stated that Azerbaijan is ready to share its chairmanship experience with the Ugandan side.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on the main agenda issues across various directions of political relations between the two states, and satisfaction with the current level of relations was expressed.
The importance of continuing the practice of coordination and mutual support on important issues both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and other multilateral cooperation platforms was emphasized.
A common understanding was expressed on the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Uganda, as well as on the intensification of contacts and business relations in the economic, social and humanitarian fields.
During the meeting, touching upon Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan, the refugee and internally displaced persons issue, the other side was provided with detailed information on the history of the former conflict. The factors that led to the 44-day Patriotic War, which resulted in the restoration of our territorial integrity and sovereignty, and the subsequent short-term anti-terror measures were discussed. The current situation in the region in the post-conflict period was addressed.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
