No:001/25, Press release on the summoning of the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On 1 January 2025, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Azerbaijan, Seyed Jafar Aghaei Maryan, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, a strong protest was lodged with the Iranian side regarding the insulting expressions voiced against Azerbaijan and our Head of State at an event held on 29 December 2024 in Ardabil, attended by Seyed Hassan Ameli, the Representative of the Supreme Leader of Iran for Ardabil province and the Friday Prayer leader of Ardabil, and broadcast on the “Khabar Network” channel of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.
At the same time, dissatisfaction was conveyed concerning the recent deliberate incitement of openly anti-Azerbaijani sentiment among the population in Iran.
It was communicated to the other side that anti-Azerbaijani propaganda in Iran does not correspond to the spirit of bilateral relations, as well as to the goals and objectives set before our countries. It was noted that such actions, instead of preserving and deepening interstate and interpersonal relations, serve the purpose of creating hatred and hostility.
A demand was made to put an end to such provocations against our country.
