Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Sudan

 

Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the delegation headed by Ali Ahmed Karti, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Sudan who is paying an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At the meeting the sides expressed their satisfaction with the development of political dialogue between two countries. The sides highlighted the fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Sudan within international organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. They also note the commonality of vision between two counties on the issues on UN agenda. 
 
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stressed that for the resolution of the conflict, first and foremost, armed forces of Armenia  has to be withdrawn from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. He also expressed his appreciation for the support of Sudan to the just and fair position of Azerbaijan in the settlement of conflict. 
 
Ali Ahmed Karti underlined that his country highly appreciates the support of Azerbaijan to the African problems including the Sudanese case within Azerbaijan's non-permanent membership to the UN Security Council in 2012-2013.
 
At the meeting the sides also exchanged views on cooperation  in the economy, education, energy, high tech and other fields. The Ministers agreed to develop the legal-treaty base between two countries and expedite the process of signing the agreements on avoidance of double taxation and protection and promotion  of investments.
 
After the meeting the sides signed the "Protocol on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Sudan".
