On 8 September 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Annalena Baerbock.
During the telephone conversation, the current situation in the region, as well as the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, informing the other side in detail about the current situation in the region, emphasized that the allegations of a “tense humanitarian situation” and “blockade” disseminated by Armenia are groundless and constitute part of Armenia’s political manipulation.
It was emphasized that the rejection by Armenia and the so-called regime created by it of the proposals by Azerbaijan on organizing the synchronized use of the Aghdam-Khankendi road and the Lachin road for the transportation of cargo through the International Committee of the Red Cross proves that the allegations regarding the humanitarian situation are fake.
It was noted that Armenia’s provocative steps obstructing efforts towards the establishment of peace and security in the region in the post-conflict period, including statements supporting the so-called regime created in the territories of Azerbaijan, and the failure to withdraw its armed forces from the territories of Azerbaijan, constitute a source of threat.
During the telephone conversation, detailed information was provided to the other side about Armenia’s ongoing military provocations and mine threats.
Thereafter, an exchange of views was conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
