No:436/23, Press release on the telephone conversation between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov

On 15 August 2023, a telephone conversation was held between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.
During the telephone conversation, the existing cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Russia, the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the current situation in the region were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that Armenia’s intensification of military-political provocations against Azerbaijan, contrary to the norms and principles of international law, deals a serious blow to the existing normalization process between the two countries.
It was stated that Armenia, which continues its manipulations regarding the alleged existence of a “tense humanitarian situation” and “blockade” in the region, obstructs the peace process instead of complying with the agreements reached to resolve issues related to the use of the Lachin road and other alternative roads to meet the needs of Armenian residents.
Minister Sergey Lavrov noted the importance of commitment to the obligations enshrined in the Trilateral Statement dated 10 November 2020, signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia.
During the telephone conversation, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
