On 6 August 2026, within the framework of his official visit to Ukraine, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha.
Following a tête-à-tête meeting between the sides, discussions continued with the participation of the expanded delegations.
During the meetings, issues on the agenda of the Azerbaijan-Ukraine strategic partnership relations, political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, energy, humanitarian ties, as well as regional and international security issues were discussed.
The important role of mechanisms such as political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation, and the Business Council in expanding our partnership was noted.
The recovery trends observed in trade turnover were positively assessed, and an exchange of views was held on the further development of economic cooperation.
Within the context of the discussions on regional issues, it was stated that Azerbaijan supports the cessation of military operations in Ukraine and the resolution of the conflict through diplomatic means on the basis of international law, and our country's consistent support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders was once again reaffirmed.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine conveyed his condolences and deep sorrow over the deaths and injuries of citizens of Azerbaijan in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov during military operations, expressed his condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased, and wished a swift recovery to the injured.
The humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan to Ukraine was discussed, including support exceeding 50 million US dollars since the onset of the military escalation, the reconstruction projects being carried out in the city of Irpin, rehabilitation programmes for Ukrainian children, as well as the assistance provided in the field of demining.
During the meetings, a detailed exchange of views was held on other areas of mutual interest.
At the conclusion of the meetings, a press conference was held, at which the Ministers made statements and answered questions from media representatives.
