On 3 August, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to the Republic of Azerbaijan Tiina Nirk.
At the meeting, Ambassador Tiina Nirk presented a copy of her credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on her new appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic activities in Azerbaijan.
At the meeting, the prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Estonia in the political, economic, trade, transport, digitalization, education and other fields were discussed. Estonia's decision to establish an embassy in Azerbaijan was welcomed with satisfaction, and confidence was expressed that this step would contribute to the further development of bilateral relations, the intensification of political dialogue, and the strengthening of the institutional foundations of cooperation.
The sides emphasized the importance of the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Estonia in terms of expanding mutual economic ties, and noted that the holding of the next meeting of the Commission would give impetus to the development of cooperation in new directions. The importance of cooperation in the field of education, academic exchange programmes, and the expansion of ties between higher education institutions was also emphasized.
Ambassador Tiina Nirk stated that her country attaches great importance to the development of relations with Azerbaijan, and noted that she would spare no effort towards the further expansion of bilateral cooperation in all directions.
The meeting also featured an exchange of views on other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
