No: 320/26 Press Release on the Next Meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) under the Chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan

On 22 July, the next meeting of the CICA Committee of Senior Officials, under the Chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was held at the administrative building of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in the city of Astana.
At the meeting of the Committee, the activities carried out towards strengthening trust and expanding cooperation among member states within the framework of the Republic of Azerbaijan's CICA Chairmanship, under the theme "A Stronger CICA: Digitalization, Connectivity and Sustainable Development in Asia," were discussed.
The Chairmanship presented information on the developments taking place on the agenda of CICA's transformation into an international organization, including progress within the framework of the negotiations on the relevant draft Charter, and an exchange of views was held on the positions of the member states.
At the meeting, preparations for the CICA Summit to be held in the city of Baku this year were discussed, and preliminary discussions were held on the possible draft outcome documents of the Summit proposed by the Azerbaijani Chairmanship.
In addition, in accordance with the Committee's agenda, issues related to the development of the composition and structure of the CICA Secretariat and the expansion of its international partnerships, as well as concept documents on the priority areas of the Conference's various dimensions of cooperation, were discussed.
An exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest within the CICA space, including its institutional development, and the initiatives put forward and events held in this regard.
