On 8 July, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov held a tête-à-tête meeting, followed by expanded talks with the participation of the delegations, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ayman Al-Safadi, who is on an official visit to our country.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects for the development of Azerbaijan-Jordan friendship and partnership relations in the political, economic, trade, humanitarian and other areas of cooperation were discussed, as well as issues on the regional and international agenda.

The Ministers emphasized that the high-level political dialogue and mutual trust existing between the Heads of State create a solid foundation for the development of bilateral relations.

The importance of holding political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs on a regular basis, in terms of further enriching the bilateral agenda and continuing the exchange of views on regional and global processes, was noted.

The sides emphasized the importance of expanding the legal and treaty framework for the more systematic development of cooperation, as well as of making more effective use of the potential of the Azerbaijan-Jordan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.

Special attention was paid at the meeting to issues of expanding economic cooperation. The importance of promoting mutual investments, implementing joint projects, strengthening ties between business circles, and enhancing activities towards organizing business visits and business forums was emphasized.

It was noted that cooperation in the fields of industry, energy, transport, agriculture, digital development, food security and other areas has broad prospects. The Azerbaijani side invited Jordanian companies to make use of our country's transit and logistics opportunities, particularly the advantages created by the Middle Corridor, as well as the favorable investment environment offered by the Alat Free Economic Zone.

An exchange of views was held on the development of cooperation in the humanitarian field, the implementation of joint projects in the fields of culture, science and education, and opportunities for strengthening ties between the peoples.

The importance of increasing mutual visits in the field of tourism was emphasized, and the operation of flights on the Baku-Amman-Baku route, effective from 28 May 2026, was positively assessed.

Within the framework of the meeting, the "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on the Mutual Exemption from Visa Requirements for Holders of Ordinary Passports" was signed. The sides noted that the document would make an important contribution to the free movement of citizens and to the expansion of tourism, economic, humanitarian and business ties.

Within the framework of the visit, the Ministers also signed the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Energy Field between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan."

The Ministers reviewed cooperation issues within multilateral platforms, including the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and expressed satisfaction with the partnership based on mutual support.

At the meeting, an exchange of views was held on the World Urban Forum (WUF13), Baku Energy Week and a number of other international events held in Azerbaijan in the first half of 2026, as well as on preparations for the CICA Summit to be held in Baku in October of this year, and for the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to be held next year.

During the discussions on regional issues, the existing security situation in the Middle East was reviewed. It was emphasized that the crisis can only be resolved through political and diplomatic means, and support was expressed for the ongoing dialogue and negotiation process.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed his counterpart in detail on the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, the agreements reached within the framework of the historic summit held in Washington in August of last year, as well as on the current state of the peace process.

In addition, an exchange of views was held on the restoration and reconstruction works being carried out in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, the process of the return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands, as well as the challenges posed by the threat of mines.

The Ministers emphasized that joint efforts would continue to be made towards further developing the friendship and partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Jordan on the basis of mutual respect, trust and shared interests.

Following the meetings held, the Ministers made statements at a press conference and answered questions from media representatives.
