No: 303/26 Press Release on the Meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Steve Daines

On 7 July, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Steve Daines, who is on a visit to our country.

 

At the meeting, an exchange of views was held on the current state and prospects for the development of the Azerbaijan-US strategic partnership relations, the agenda of political and economic cooperation, energy security, regional connectivity projects, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

 

The sides emphasized the importance of developing high-level contacts and political dialogue between the two countries in terms of expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.

 

Touching upon Azerbaijan's growing role as a reliable partner in the fields of energy security, transport and logistics, the sides exchanged views on the initiatives being carried out towards the development of the Middle Corridor and East-West transport routes.

 

During the discussion of regional connectivity and economic cooperation issues, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan's cooperation with the Central Asian countries is developing dynamically, and, in this regard, noted the new opportunities of the C6 cooperation format. It was emphasized that, through the strengthening of East-West connectivity via the Caspian Sea, the development of the Middle Corridor, as well as the logistics and industrial infrastructure created at and around the Alat International Sea Trade Port, Azerbaijan has become one of the important transport and trade hubs of Eurasia.

 

The sides reviewed the current situation in the South Caucasus in the post-conflict period, the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, and the peace agenda.

 

At the meeting, the other side was provided with detailed information on the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works being carried out in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, as well as on the opportunities created by the opening of transport and communication lines in the region for regional cooperation and economic integration.

 

The sides also exchanged views on other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
