No: 299/26 Press Release on the Meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety Jean Todt

On 2 July, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety Jean Todt, who is on a visit to our country.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was held on the existing cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the UN, issues of international cooperation in the field of road safety, as well as global initiatives in this direction.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided information on our country's implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the development of a safe, sustainable and modern transport system, as well as the consistent reforms carried out towards ensuring road traffic safety. In this regard, the work being carried out in the modernization of transport infrastructure, the application of digital solutions, and the strengthening of road traffic safety was emphasized. The Minister also drew attention to the fact that high-level road and infrastructure projects are being implemented throughout the entire territory of the country, particularly in our liberated territories.
Jean Todt provided information on the activities carried out in his capacity as the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy, and on the measures taken towards preventing road traffic accidents and strengthening international cooperation in this field. He highly appreciated the measures taken by Azerbaijan in the field of road safety and the progress achieved, and emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation in this direction.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
