No: 293/26 Press Release on the Telephone Conversation between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Antonio Tajani

On 26 June, a telephone conversation was held between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Antonio Tajani.
During the phone call, the current state and prospects for the development of the Azerbaijan-Italy strategic partnership relations were discussed.
The Ministers noted with satisfaction that high-level political dialogue between the two countries has taken on an intensive character. In this regard, it was emphasized that the state visit of Italian President Sergio Mattarella to Azerbaijan in the autumn of last year, the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in January of this year, as well as the visit of Chair of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni to Azerbaijan in May, demonstrated the strategic nature of Azerbaijan-Italy relations and the dynamic development of cooperation based on mutual trust.
The sides noted the importance of continuing political dialogue and mutual visits going forward, as well as of further expanding cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, energy, transport, industry, investment, education and other areas. In this regard, it was noted that the Azerbaijan-Italy Business Forum, scheduled to be held in the autumn of this year, would serve as an important platform for deepening bilateral economic partnership.
The Ministers emphasized the importance of the conference to be organized in partnership with "The European House – Ambrosetti" in September of this year, in terms of the development of Azerbaijan-Italy economic and political dialogue.
The sides noted with satisfaction the successful cooperation in the energy field, emphasizing that cooperation between SOCAR and Italy's Italiana Petroli (IP) company, including the acquisition of the company, is one of the important directions of bilateral economic relations. The importance of expanding mutually beneficial projects in the economic field and exploring new opportunities for cooperation was noted.
During the phone call, an exchange of views was also held on the peace agenda in the region in the post-conflict period, the situation in the Middle East, and other regional security issues.
