On 22 June, a meeting was held between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.
During the meeting, the current state and development prospects of relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, based on friendship, brotherhood and mutual respect, were discussed. The sides emphasized that high-level mutual visits and political dialogue make an important contribution to the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
The Ministers exchanged views on opportunities for developing cooperation in the trade, economic, energy, transport and transit, logistics, shipping, humanitarian and cultural fields. In this context, the importance of strengthening regional connectivity and making more efficient use of the potential of the Middle Corridor was noted.
At the meeting, issues of cooperation within the framework of international and regional organizations were also reviewed. The sides emphasized the importance of continuing mutual support and cooperation within the UN and other multilateral platforms.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other regional and international issues of mutual interest. The sides expressed their intention to continue joint efforts towards further developing Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations in the spirit of mutual benefit and strategic partnership.
