On 18 June, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with National Security Adviser to the President of Romania Marius-Gabriel Lazurca.
During the meeting, the current state and development prospects of strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Romania, as well as regional security issues, were discussed.
The sides emphasized that high-level mutual visits and intensive political dialogue carried out in recent years have made an important contribution to the development of bilateral relations. The importance of the activities of the Joint Commission on Trade-Economic Relations and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of Romania in terms of expanding cooperation was noted.
At the meeting, it was stated that the energy sector is one of the main areas of Azerbaijan-Romania cooperation, and opportunities for developing partnership in green energy and alternative energy sources, along with traditional energy, were reviewed. The existing potential for expanding cooperation in the fields of transport and communication, education, pharmaceuticals and other areas, as well as promoting mutual investments, was discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided information about the favorable investment environment of our country and highlighted the opportunities created for investors. In this context, the growing role of the Alat Free Economic Zone as a regional trade and logistics center was discussed, and opportunities for Romanian companies to operate there were noted.
The sides emphasized the importance of mutual engagement within the framework of international organizations, including in the context of cooperation with the European Union.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other bilateral and regional issues.
