No:219/26, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the UN

On 21 May, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the delegation headed by Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, who is on a visit to our country.
During the meeting, the current situation and future development prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN were discussed. The sides conducted an exchange of views on multilateral cooperation, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, climate action, as well as initiatives carried out in the direction of restoration and reconstruction in the post-conflict period.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted Azerbaijan’s contributions to the international peace, security and sustainable development agenda, and emphasized the role played by our country in promoting regional cooperation and connectivity projects.
In addition, information was provided on the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories, as well as measures taken towards ensuring the safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons.
The sides also held discussions on the leading role of our country in the fields of energy security and regional connectivity, as well as our country’s strategic relations with Central Asia.
Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, emphasized the importance of the partnership between Azerbaijan and the UN, and noted the importance of expanding cooperation on sustainable development, urban development, the climate agenda and humanitarian issues.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
