No:218/26, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Ugochi Daniels, Deputy Director General for Operations of the International Organization for Migration

On 21 May, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Ugochi Daniels, Deputy Director General of the International Organization for Migration, who is on a visit to our country to participate in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum held in Baku.
At the meeting, discussions were held on the current situation of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the International Organization for Migration, prospects for future joint activities and issues of mutual interest in the field of migration process management.
The sides positively assessed the dynamics of the long-term relations established by our country with the specialized agencies of the UN, particularly with the International Organization for Migration.
The importance of joint initiatives implemented towards modernizing governance mechanisms in the field of migration was emphasized.
During the meeting, detailed information was provided to the other side on large-scale infrastructure projects implemented in the liberated territories and the economic rehabilitation of the region.
It was emphasized that the sustainable and phased return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands, which is one of the main strategic priorities of the Government, is being successfully implemented.
Ugochi Daniels highly appreciated the reforms carried out in the field of migration in Azerbaijan, particularly the work carried out towards the return of internally displaced persons and the “Great Return” programme. She stated that the organization she represents is ready to continue cooperation with our country in the field of migration and to provide necessary support to relevant projects.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest, as well as the regional situation.
