No:213/23, Press release on the telephone conversation between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha

On 18 April 2023, a telephone conversation was held between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha.
The sides first conveyed their best wishes and congratulations on the occasion of the upcoming holy Ramadan holiday and wished peace and prosperity to the entire Islamic world.
During the telephone conversation, an exchange of views was conducted on existing cooperation opportunities between Azerbaijan and the OIC, issues on the agenda and future prospects.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, speaking about the beneficial and effective cooperation of our country with the Organization, emphasized that this cooperation is being successfully continued both bilaterally and within the framework of international organizations.
Referring to the successful organization of joint events, the sides spoke about the results of the 49th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers held in Mauritania in March of the current year, the adopted decisions and the next steps.
During the phone call, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, speaking about Azerbaijan’s ongoing efforts to eliminate the consequences of the former conflict, including strengthening peace and security in the region, informed the other side about the steps taken on the peace agenda. He spoke about Armenia’s provocations, which, against the background of the positive steps taken by our country, on the contrary, escalate the situation. It was emphasized with gratitude that the OIC has traditionally supported Azerbaijan’s rightful position based on international law, territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Also, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, providing information about the projects implemented by the Government of Azerbaijan for the purpose of large-scale restoration and development of the liberated territories, invited representatives from friendly and brotherly countries within the Organization to participate in the said projects.
During the telephone conversation, an exchange of views was conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
