No:009/23, Press release on the telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel Eli Cohen

On 13 January 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel Eli Cohen held a telephone conversation.
First of all, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated his counterpart on his appointment to this high position and wished him success in his activities.
During the phone call, the events and mutual visits held last year in connection with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State of Israel were recalled with satisfaction. At the same time, it was highlighted that bilateral relations have a centuries-old history, and in this regard, the Jewish community living in Azerbaijan has made a positive contribution to bilateral relations.
The Ministers, noting the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Israel based on friendship and mutual understanding, discussed the future prospects of the current multifaceted cooperation. The development of relations in the fields of economy, tourism, education, trade, high technologies and other areas, as well as the activities of the Joint Commission between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the State of Israel, were noted. Confidence was expressed that the high dynamics of relations, especially the opening of Azerbaijan’s Trade and Tourism Representative Offices in Israel, as well as the establishment of its Embassy, would make a significant contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his counterpart about the situation in the region, as well as the restoration and reconstruction works carried out by our country in the post-conflict period, and highly appreciated the support provided by Israeli companies in the mentioned process.
During the telephone conversation, an exchange of views was also conducted on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
