No: 554/22 Press Release on the Meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden Tobias Billström

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden Tobias Billström within the framework of the 29th Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), held in Łódź.
At the meeting, topical issues of the bilateral cooperation agenda, including developments taking place in the region and the world, were discussed.
The sides noted the existence of a mutually beneficial cooperation agenda between the two countries in various fields. Confidence was expressed that, within the framework of Sweden's Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) in 2023, cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU, as well as joint work on the agreements reached, would be successfully carried out.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided his counterpart with detailed information on the new realities that have emerged in the region following the 44-day Patriotic War, the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the post-conflict period, Azerbaijan's efforts towards advancing the peace agenda, and the restoration and reconstruction works being carried out by Azerbaijan in the region. In addition, the other side was informed about the obstacles created by Armenia within the framework of the negotiation process, its violation of obligations under the agreements reached, and the provocations perpetrated by it in a number of areas, including the threat of mines.
Minister Tobias Billström expressed that there is potential for the development of existing relations between Azerbaijan and Sweden in various fields. It was noted with satisfaction that the holding of joint events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries has contributed to cooperation. He drew attention to the importance of continuing dialogue at the political level.
The meeting also featured an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
