No:360/23, Commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the views voiced by French President E. Macron at the meeting with the Armenian community

The views once again voiced by French President Emmanuel Macron against Azerbaijan during the meeting with the Armenian community in the city of Marseille, which unilaterally defend Armenia and do not reflect the truth, are unacceptable.

E. Macron, who has been remembered for repeatedly making anti-Azerbaijan statements both during the 44-day Patriotic War and in the post-conflict period, failed to achieve his goals during the war and in the post-war period.

The allegations that pressure was exerted on the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, are a product of President Macron’s imagination. Attempts to exert pressure on President of the Republic of Azerbaijan have never yielded results. President Ilham Aliyev has always successfully defended the national interests of the Republic of Azerbaijan in his activities on the basis of the norms and principles of international law.

President Macron’s statement once again shows that he is a tool in the hands of the Armenian lobby in France. We note that the representative of the Armenian community to whom he tried to provide explanations is precisely one of those radical persons against whom Armenia itself has imposed a ban on entering the country.

Against the backdrop of Armenia’s support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and recognition of the Garabagh region as part of Azerbaijan, such biased statements by President Macron not only hinder the establishment of peace and tranquility in the region, but also encourage those who promote and support separatism and terrorism to further expand their destructive activities.
