No:297/23, Press release on female citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan held in detention in the Republic of Iraq

As a result of the relevant coordination work carried out by the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the phased and coordinated measures of the relevant state institutions of our country, 3 female citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who served prison sentences in the Republic of Iraq and whose sentences have currently expired were brought to our country.
At the next stage, it is planned to bring to our country 2 more citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan whose sentences have expired.
Currently, relevant work is underway towards the phased return to our country of female citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan held in detention in the Republic of Iraq. In this regard, relevant appeals have been addressed to the relevant state institutions of the Republic of Iraq.
It should be noted that as a result of the measures implemented by the Government of Azerbaijan, 288 children of the said female citizens have already been brought back to Azerbaijan.
