On 30 April, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received Jin-Hyun Paik, candidate of the Republic of Korea for the position of judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
During the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on activities within the framework of international organizations, including issues related to the upcoming ICJ judge elections.
Jin-Hyun Paik provided detailed information on his professional activities, experience in the field of international law and the directions he plans to put forward as priorities at the ICJ.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance Azerbaijan attaches to the rule of international law, multilateral cooperation and strengthening the role of international judicial institutions. In this context, it was stated that Azerbaijan takes a comprehensive approach to the ICJ judge elections and carefully reviews the professional qualities of the candidates.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was conducted on regional security issues, including the current situation in the South Caucasus region.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the measures implemented by Azerbaijan towards ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region in the post-conflict period.
The sides also conducted an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
