No:207/20, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Azerbaijan

On July 30, 2020, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Wolfgang Manig, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany in political, economic, trade, humanitarian, cultural and other spheres.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his interlocutor about the policy of aggression of Armenia that poses a threat to regional security, the latest military provocation committed by the Armenian armed forces along the international border between the two states, as well as current situation in the region. It was noted that the contradictory statements and actions of the Armenian leadership, as well as the latest pre-planned provocation, create obstacles to the conflict settlement negotiations. While stressing that Azerbaijan supports substantive and result-oriented negotiations the Minister noted that Azerbaijan would never reconcile with the occupation of its territories and emphasized that the negotiations should serve to eliminate the consequences of the occupation.

Ambassador Wolfgang Manig expressed appreciation for the warm reception and delivered the congratulation letter from Mr. Heiko Maas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany to the Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and wished him success in his activities. The confidence was expressed over the further development of existing cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The sides also had an exchange of views on the other issues of mutual interest.
