No:231/17, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu

Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan to attend the sixth trilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Turkey and Georgia.

At the meeting, the sides expressed their satisfaction with the development in all spheres of cooperation between the two brotherly states and contribution of the meetings held in different formats to the bilateral relations. In this regards, as it is the case in the bilateral framework, the ministers underlined the successful development of cooperation in trilateral Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey, Azerbaijan-Iran-Turkey and Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan- Turkey formats and exchanged their views on issues on the agenda.

Ministers expressed confidence that cooperation and mutual support between the two countries within the framework of international and regional organizations are highly appreciated.

During the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of the Turkey-Azerbaijan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in the development of cooperation as well as noted a significant role of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Intergovernmental Joint Economic Commission in ensuring sustainable, stable and long-term development of trade and economic relations between the two countries.

The sides also noted that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line would be launched soon and this project will serve for the sake of development and progress in the region and beyond. They also expressed their confidence in the implementation of the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) within the scheduled time frame.

Giving the information about the current negotiation process towards the resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov emphasized the lack of progress in the conflict resolution at the result of non-constructive policy of Armenia. He stressed that for the settlement of the conflict, first and foremost, Armenian troops have to be withdrawn from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
