Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Bert Koenders, Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on the sidelines of the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly on 27 September, 2015.
Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov pointed out that the statement adopted by the European Parliament on Azerbaijan is biased and unacceptable, constitutes anti-Azerbaijan and Islamophobic nature and inflicts it serious damage to the relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
Noting that his country will chair the European Union since the first half of 2016, Bert Koenders said that the Netherlands is interested in the development of the relations with Azerbaijan, especially in the cooperation in energy field.
Stressing that the attempts of altering the internationally recognized borders of states by using force is unacceptable, Elmar Mammadyarov informed about the aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, its unconstructive stance in the process of negotiations and its politics to consolidate the current status quo based on occupation and aggression. He stressed that according to the relevant four resolutions of the United Nations Security Council on the conflict, the armed forces of Armenia have to be withdrawn from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
At the meeting the sides also exchanged views on the issues of migration, radicalism and xenophobia.
Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov underlined that the growing tendency of Islamophobia and xenophobia is the matter of a serious concern.
Giving information about Azerbaijan's rich and exemplary multiculturalism traditions, he noted that our country in its experience has proved the success of this concept.
During the meeting, regional and global issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
